Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:
As a Nuclear Pharmacist, you will be responsible for registering, preparing and dispensing of radioactive pharmaceuticals used for patient diagnosis and therapy, applying principles and practices of pharmacy and radiochemistry.
- Coordinating with suppliers and preparing reports for regulatory agencies to obtain approval for testing, registration, and use of new radiopharmaceuticals in the region.
- Process ordering, receiving, storing, and control of inventory of radioactive drugs (radiopharmaceuticals), other drugs used in nuclear medicine, and related supplies.
- Maintains control records for receipt, storage, preparation, and disposal of radioactive nuclei.
- Handle, package, and deliver radiopharmaceuticals and hazardous materials. This includes receiving radiopharmaceutical prescriptions from physicians and reviewing prescriptions to determine the suitability of radiopharmaceuticals for intended use.
- Filling prescription orders as well as packaging, labeling, and transporting radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with Company Policies, Corporate Standards, and Health and Safety rules related to area of responsibility.
- Exemplifies compliance with all regulations, company policies, corporate standards, and Health and Safety rules related to area of responsibility.
- Accurately set up and compound radiopharmaceuticals.
- Manages the shift and personnel per which they are assigned in alignment with the pharmacy policy & procedures. Directs pharmacy employee activity during their shift.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate level of drug inventory and other business necessary supplies.
- Supervise and/or perform required tests on equipment (e.g., dose calibrator constancy and survey meter checks) and record results.Supervise and/or perform quality control tests on prepared products to ensure all quality requirements have been met.Provide training and supervision to employees to assure all lab activities are performed in compliance with regulations and initiatives, Company Policies and Health and Safety rules.Supervise and/or process returned medical waste and maintain returned reusable supplies in compliance with all regulations and Company Policies.Supervise and maintain cleanliness of lab by the facility housekeeping schedules.Supervise the bio-hazardous waste disposal.Actively participate in maintaining a safe work environment, support the
- design of best practice and SOPs by completing required training, providing suggestions for improving the health and safety program, capacity building junior staff and bringing unsafe acts and/or conditions to the attention of management.
- Support Pharmacy Operations by accurately entering regulatory, sales, customer, or other required information into the pharmacy information system.
Experiences and Education
- Bachelor of Pharmacy and internship completion from a reputable institution.
- Willingness to become an authorized user of radioactive materials.
- Licensed to practice pharmacy in Kenya by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
- Willingness to work on an on-call basis.
- Ability to accommodate shift changes based on business needs.
- Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner, both with co-workers & external customers is preferred.
- Ability to prioritize job duties. Successfully balances proactive versus reactive tasks is preferred.
- Handles multiple tasks efficiently without forfeiting quality is preferred.
- Adhere to legal and regulatory guidelines.
- Make compliance a priority. Adhere to high ethical values in decisions and actions.
Desirable work experience and interests.
- Previous experience handling radioactive materials. Previous experience preparing and/or dispensing pharmaceuticals, radiopharmaceuticals, or sterile products.
- Demonstratable interest in the nuclear medicine space.
